Basic turning course in Turin. The course is hosted at Izlab MakerSpace within the Ex-Incet compendium.
The lessons are held by Giovanni Antona, during the lesson the techniques of wood carving and modeling will be learned.
At the end of the course the participants will take home a pepper mill turned and assembled by themselves.
Description
Course description
The meetings are partly theoretical and partly practical.
During the turning exercise, each participant will face the creation of his piece individually on a dedicated lathe.
The theoretical and practical topics are indicated below.
Theory: definitions and components of the lathe,
presentation of the turning tools (how they are used and why they work and their sharpening), the materials to be turned,
lathe safety (PPE, correct practices and how to approach the lathe)
Project and “Review” of the project of the object to be turned
Practice: rolling, modeling, excavating, sanding, finishing
The lessons are held by Giovanni Antona
All tools and material to be turned are included in the course.
